No matter what time of year you're planning to visit Hilton Head Island, walking through Fish Haul Creek Park and Mitchelville Freedom Park will almost guarantee bird sightings, in particular shorebirds. For optimal shorebird viewing, visit two hours before or after high tide. Fish Haul Beach is a great place to bring a spotting scope to view the shorebirds from a distance and reduce the chance of disturbing them. Don't forget to check out the informational kiosks along the trails to learn more about the local sights.
